{"product_id":"vintage-franklin-mint-bootscraper-cat-1986-cast-iron-curio-cabinet-cats","title":"Vintage Franklin Mint Bootscraper Cat 1986 Cast Iron Curio Cabinet Cats","description":"A wonderfully characterful vintage “Bootscraper” Cat from The Franklin Mint Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to 1986.\n\nModelled in black cast iron, this miniature sculpture depicts a cat striding purposefully forward, with one front paw raised and its extraordinarily long tail curving upwards behind it.\n\nThe design was inspired by traditional cat-shaped cast-iron bootscrapers, once a familiar sight outside homes and used for scraping dirt and mud from footwear before entering the house. Franklin Mint's original information for the design refers to this particular style of cat bootscraper as “Shadow the Cat.”\n\nIt's a wonderfully clever miniature interpretation of a much larger piece of historic household ironwork — and one of the more unusual designs within the Curio Cabinet Cats collection.\n\nThe underside retains its original circular Franklin Mint label, clearly marked:\n©1986 THE FRANKLIN MINT\nCurrent collector-market listings also identify this exact model as the Bootscraper and describe it as cast iron. \n\nMaker: The Franklin Mint\nCollection: The Curio Cabinet Cats Collection\nDesign: Bootscraper\nDate: 1986\nMaterial: Cast iron\nColour: Black\nLength: approximately 10–11 cm \/ just over 4 inches, including the tail\nPlease see the measurement photograph for scale.\n\n*Condition*\n\nIn very good vintage condition, with light age-related surface wear consistent with age and display.\n\nThe long tail, ears, legs and raised front paw all appear intact from the photographs, and the original ©1986 The Franklin Mint label remains present to the underside.\n\nPlease examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition report.\n\n*A Note from FS Vintage Co.*\n\nAll of our items are genuine vintage or antique pieces and have been loved throughout their lifetime.
