A wonderfully unusual vintage Franklin Mint “Art Nouveau” Cat, from the later series of the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to approximately 1990. This has to be one of the most flamboyant cats in the entire collection! The seated cat is covered almost completely in elaborate flowing scrollwork, with sweeping curves running through its face, body and magnificent curled tail. The deeply modelled decoration is beautifully complemented by an antiqued silver-tone finish, with darker patination settling naturally into the recessed areas and highlighting the intricate design. Perhaps its most striking features are the cat's wonderful turquoise-green eyes, which provide a vivid flash of colour against the aged metallic finish. Small traces of coloured decoration can also be seen amongst some of the recessed details. This design is known as the Art Nouveau Cat and belongs to the later Curio Cabinet Cats series. It should not be confused with Franklin Mint's earlier 1986 Art Nouveau design, which was produced in frosted crystal/glass and depicts an entirely different cat. The later Art Nouveau design is one of the more distinctive and less frequently encountered members of the collection. The figurine bears the © TFM mark beside the felted underside. Maker: The Franklin Mint Collection: Curio Cabinet Cats Design: Art Nouveau Series: Later/third series Date: circa 1990 Material: Pewter / silver-tone metal Finish: Antiqued silver tone with coloured accents Eyes: Turquoise-green Size: approximately 7–7.5 cm / around 3 inches Mark: © TFM Please note: This listing is for the Franklin Mint cat figurine only. The original presentation box, collector’s leaflet/card and any other original packaging or paperwork are not included. *Condition* In very good to excellent vintage condition. The figurine has been carefully inspected and is sound, with no breaks, cracks or losses identified. The delicate projecting scrollwork, ears, raised paw and elaborate curled tail all appear intact, and both turquoise-coloured eyes remain present. There is some natural age-related patination, darkening and minor surface wear to the metallic finish, which adds depth to the highly detailed design and is consistent with the age of the piece. The black felt remains present to the underside. The original aged finish has deliberately been left unpolished. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition report and show the exact figurine you will receive. *A Note from FS Vintage Co.* All of our items are genuine vintage or antique pieces and have been loved throughout their lifetime.
