A particularly beautiful and sought-after Franklin Mint “Famille Rose” Cat, from the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection.
This wonderfully ornate little cat is one of the more elaborate designs from the collection, decorated in a striking palette of soft celadon/mint green, blush pink and creamy ivory, lavishly embellished with floral decoration and rich gold-coloured detailing.
The cat stands proudly on four little paws, its body covered with delicate sprays of flowers and foliage in shades of pink, burgundy, turquoise and green. Decorative patterned bands encircle the body and legs, while the beautifully modelled curling tail sweeps across its back.
The stylised face is especially charming, with gilt-coloured eyes, brows and nose, pink detailing to the ears and tiny dotted decoration across the forehead.
The design takes its name from Famille Rose, the decorative tradition associated with Chinese porcelain and characterised by its beautiful palette of opaque pink and colourful enamels.
This is a genuine Franklin Mint Curio Cabinet Cats “Famille Rose” figurine; Replacements Ltd also catalogues the design at approximately 2¾ inches.
The underside is marked:

Please note that “Famille Rose” is the Franklin Mint design name/style represented by this figurine; this is a Franklin Mint collectible rather than an antique Chinese Famille Rose piece.
*Condition*
This lovely figurine remains in very good displayable vintage condition overall, but there is one small area of age-related deterioration to the decorative finish which is important to note.
There is a small area of lifting/peeling and loss to the applied transfer decoration on the narrow patterned band around the back of the neck/body, as shown clearly in the close-up photograph.
The affected area is relatively small and does not significantly detract when the figurine is displayed. The underlying porcelain appears to remain intact, and I have not identified a chip to the ceramic itself in this area.
The remainder of the figurine presents beautifully, with its wonderful pastel colouring, floral decoration and gilt-coloured detailing remaining exceptionally attractive.
No obvious cracks or repairs have been identified.
Please study all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photograph of the affected decorative band, as they form an important part of the description and condition report.
Please note-
This listing is for the Franklin Mint cat figurine only. The original presentation box, collector's leaflet/card, display cabinet and any other original packaging or paperwork are not included.
