A fabulous and increasingly difficult to find Franklin Mint “Gallé” Cat, from the third series of the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to approximately 1990. One of the most wonderfully eccentric designs in the collection, this striking porcelain/ceramic cat was inspired by the celebrated decorative ceramic cats associated with French Art Nouveau artist and designer Émile Gallé. The elegant seated cat has a wonderfully vibrant golden-yellow glazed body, scattered with cobalt-blue and white circular and heart-shaped motifs. Its wonderfully characterful face is perhaps the star of the piece, with vivid green eyes, blue detailing and a delightfully whimsical moustache-like decoration. The result is unmistakably influenced by the fantastical feline ceramics produced in France during the Art Nouveau period. The underside bears the © TFM mark for The Franklin Mint. Maker: The Franklin Mint Collection: Curio Cabinet Cats Design: Gallé Series: Third Series Date: circa 1990 Material: Glazed ceramic/porcelain Height: approximately 9 cm / 3½ inches Mark: © TFM Please note that “Gallé” is the Franklin Mint design name. This is a later Franklin Mint collectible inspired by the ceramic cats associated with Émile Gallé; it was not manufactured by Gallé and is not an antique Gallé piece. *Condition* In very good vintage condition overall. The figurine has been carefully inspected and there are no chips, cracks or repairs identified. The ears, paws and tail are intact and the colourful decorative finish remains wonderfully bright and glossy. There is a small area of loss/wear to the yellow decorative colour at the tip of one ear, revealing the lighter colour beneath. Importantly, the area remains smooth and glossy to the touch and the glaze appears to remain intact, so this appears to be loss or wear to the coloured decoration rather than a chip to the ceramic itself. This has been photographed closely and is shown clearly in the final photograph. There may also be very minor signs of previous handling and display commensurate with age. Please study all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up of the ear, as they form an important part of the description and condition report. *A Note from FS Vintage Co.* All of our items are genuine vintage or antique pieces and have been loved throughout their lifetime.
