A wonderfully characterful vintage Franklin Mint “Animalier” Cat, from the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to 1986.
This charming miniature depicts a long-haired cat seated upon a circular base, its head bowed and one paw raised towards its face in a wonderfully natural grooming pose.
The richly textured fur has been beautifully modelled, while the dark patinated bronze finish reveals warmer bronze highlights across the raised details of the face, ears, paw and coat.
Known as “Animalier” within the Franklin Mint Curio Cabinet Cats collection, this design takes inspiration from the tradition of animalier sculpture — naturalistic representations of animals that became particularly fashionable during the 19th century.
Animalier formed part of the earlier Curio Cabinet Cats collection and is quite different from the collection's other metal cats, including the rectangular-based Bootscraper and elaborately decorated Asian designs.

Design: Animalier
Date: 1986
Material: Bronze
Finish: Dark patinated bronze
Height: approximately 6.5 cm / 2½ inches

There appears to be a small impressed copyright/date inscription around the edge of the base, although this is quite faint. There is also some old residue to the flat underside, possibly from a former label.
Please note: This listing is for the Franklin Mint cat figurine only. The original presentation box, collector’s leaflet/card and any other original packaging or paperwork are not included.
*Condition*
In very good vintage condition.
The figurine has been carefully inspected and presents beautifully, with no obvious significant damage visible.
There is minor age-related surface wear and rubbing consistent with previous display, particularly to the underside of the base. Some old adhesive/residue is also present beneath the base.
The dark patinated finish remains very attractive, with naturally brighter bronze-toned highlights to the raised areas of the sculpted fur and facial features.
The patina has deliberately been left untouched rather than polished, preserving the character and appearance of the vintage finish.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition report and show the exact figurine you will receive.
