A beautifully understated vintage Art Nouveau frosted glass cat from The Franklin Mint's wonderfully varied Curio Cabinet Cats Collection.
This charming miniature depicts a peacefully sleeping cat curled into a wonderfully simple, flowing form.
Made from softly frosted glass, much of the detail has been created through the shape itself rather than applied decoration. The cat's rounded body flows into its curled tail, with subtly modelled paws, head and pointed ears emerging from the smooth satin surface.
The wonderfully restrained design gives the piece an almost sculptural quality and reflects the flowing, naturalistic forms associated with Art Nouveau.
This particular design is known as Franklin Mint's “Art Nouveau” frosted glass cat and formed part of the earlier Curio Cabinet Cats collection.

In very good vintage condition overall.
No chips, cracks or repairs have been identified on inspection.
There may be very minor surface marks consistent with age, handling and previous display.
There also appears to be a small remnant from a former label/sticker on the underside.
