A wonderfully characterful vintage Chalkware Cat from The Franklin Mint's Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to 1986.
This charming little cat is quite different from many of its Curio Cabinet companions. Made in traditional chalkware, or moulded plaster, it has been decorated in a wonderfully warm folk-art style.
The plump seated tabby has a mottled golden-orange coat decorated with bold black stripes, expressive painted eyes and a black curled tail. A deep red collar with decorative pendant completes his rather splendid appearance.
The underside retains its original circular label reading:
© 1986 THE FRANKLIN MINT
This particular design is known as the Chalkware Cat, celebrating the tradition of decorative moulded and painted plaster figures.
A cheerful little vintage collectible, ideal for an existing Franklin Mint Curio Cabinet Cats collection — or simply for somebody who finds his wonderfully round tabby expression impossible to resist.
