A particularly sought-after vintage Franklin Mint “Limoges” Cat, from the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating from the later series, circa 1990.
This beautiful miniature depicts a peacefully curled sleeping cat finished in an extraordinarily rich cobalt-blue glaze, lavishly decorated with delicate gold-coloured flowers, scrolling foliage and tiny ornamental details.
Further gilded decoration highlights the collar, ears, nose, curled tail and lower border, creating a striking contrast against the deep jewel-like blue.
The design is known within the Franklin Mint Curio Cabinet Cats collection as “Limoges” and is one of the less frequently encountered later designs in the series.
Collector-market records have repeatedly highlighted Limoges among the more difficult Curio Cabinet Cats to find, making it particularly desirable for anyone attempting to complete the collection.
The underside bears the small later-period Franklin Mint mark:

Please note that “Limoges” is the name of Franklin Mint's design and refers to its Limoges-inspired decorative style. This figurine should not be confused with antique French Limoges porcelain or attributed to a historic Limoges factory.
