A wonderfully decorative vintage Franklin Mint “Asian” Cat, from the collectible Curio Cabinet Cats Collection, dating to 1986.
One of the most striking designs in the collection, this substantial little brass cat is captured in a wonderfully playful stretching pose — front paws extended, hindquarters raised and its extraordinarily long tail curling high into the air.
The entire body is covered with intricate engraved and relief-style scrolling decoration, giving the brass surface an almost textile-like richness. Darker tones within the recessed pattern beautifully emphasise the elaborate design, while the raised areas retain their warm golden brass finish.
Look closely and there are lovely details throughout, from the expressive face and patterned ears to the decoration continuing along the cat's legs and remarkably long curved tail.
This design is known as the “Asian” Cat within Franklin Mint's Curio Cabinet Cats Collection and dates from the earlier series.

*Condition*
In very good vintage condition overall.
The brass displays beautifully, retaining its warm golden finish with attractive darker toning and patina within the recessed decoration.
There are minor signs of age and previous display, including light surface wear and marks to the undersides of the feet, consistent with a vintage metal figurine.
The cat has been carefully inspected, including the particularly vulnerable long raised tail, and no significant damage has been identified.
The original Crafted in Taiwan label also remains present underneath.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition report and show the exact figurine you will receive.
